Hyperlite Wake

Hyperlite is a wakeboarding company that has been around since the sport was first invented. Hyperlite is frequently cited as the 'best' wakeboard manufacturer. Hyperlite wakeboards were not only amongst the first wakeboards on the scene but founder Herb O'Brien was one of the founding members of this now nationally known X-Game. Herb - who owned the water ski company, H.O. Sports hooked up with some of the best surfboard shapers in Hawaii to design and build the first compression-molded neutral-buoyancy wakeboard, the Hyperlite. This innovation sparked the massive growth of what today is known as wakeboarding. Some of the first names of this new sport were skiboarding, and even skurfing, but those only lasted for a few years; Ultimately wakeboarding became the official name of this sport. The Hyperlite's new features such as: neutral buoyancy and better bindings gave riding behind a boat a new feel that was comfortable and accessible.

Hyperlite wakeboards have come a long way in the past several years. Now featuring top of the line technology that professionals and novices alike can appreciate and enjoy. Wakeskating

Wakeskating is a water sport and an adaptation of wakeboarding that employs a similar design of board manufactured from maple or from fibreglass. Unlike wakeboarding, the rider is not bound to the board in any way, which gives the sport its own unique challenges. Instead, the top surface of the board is covered with griptape, (in a similar fashion to a skateboard) or a soft, high-traction, foam covering that is kinder to riders in the inevitable crashes. Riders usually wear shoes while riding to afford themselves extra purchases on the board, similar to skateboarding.

Wakeboarding Eruption

Wakeboarding had its humble beginnings in the late 80's by a couple of water sports enthusiasts in Orlando, Florida. Since then, the sport has taken off wildly and wakeboarding is now an official sport and part of many action sport festivals and competitions. The boarder can be seen thrashing the waters from the Philippines to Canada to Germany to New Zealand. With International interest, televised events, major corporate sponsorship and stars of the sport competing in these events, wakeboarding has become a mainstay in the action-sports genre with millions of people all over the world participating. The sport now has competitions and events for men, women and young adults who participate to win coveted trophies, prize money and corporate sponsorship.
